Walsh to Host Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party

OLEAN, NY – Archbishop Walsh Academy will host its annual St. Patrick’s Day Party fundraiser on Saturday, March 18 from 7-11 p.m. at the Walsh/STCS campus, 208 N. 24th St. Tickets are available for $100 apiece at the school or from Walsh/STCS families, faculty and staff.

The event promises to be an exciting evening of fun and entertainment with live music by Brianna Blankenship, beer and wine tents, food and other refreshments. Several hundred community members are expected to attend the event to enjoy a pint (or two) of frothy brew with friends and celebrate Walsh’s place in the Irish-Catholic tradition.

It’ll also mark the end of an era, as the school will bid farewell to its home since 1959 after the current school year. Following the Buffalo Diocese-led sales process, Walsh/STCS will move to a new location – soon to be announced – to kick off the 2023-24 school year.

“This party can be the perfect sendoff for the school as we embark on a new era to make new memories in a new home,” said Dr. Colleen Taggerty, Walsh/STCS President. “For years, members of the Walsh family and other community members have enjoyed fundraising parties here at the school. Our esteemed alumni and families have many cherished memories here. We invite everyone to come for a great time, to honor our history, and look ahead toward a brighter future.”

Attendees will have the chance to win cash prizes, with a total of $35,000 up for grabs – including a grand prize of $20,000. Other cash prizes include $5,000, $2,500, $2,000 (x2), $500 (x5), and $200 (x10). Additionally, the seller of the grand prize ticket will win $1,000.

Throughout the evening, attendees can also participate in 50/50 drawings and other games of chance. For those wishing to take home a piece of Walsh history, the school will also have prized sports memorabilia available including football helmets, jerseys, trophies and other tokens from the Eagles’ storied athletic tradition.

“Fabulous prizes have always been a hallmark of the holiday parties and fundraisers at Walsh,” Taggerty said. “Everyone who attends has a great chance to come away with a cash prize and help out our school programming and athletics at the same time.”

The cash prize winners will be announced during the party at 10 p.m.

All proceeds from the event will go to support Walsh/STCS and the school’s Sports Boosters Club, helping to provide students with quality education and extracurricular activities. For more information about the event or to purchase tickets, please contact the school at (716) 372-8122.
