Archbishop Walsh Academy Announces Valedictorian Alexus Fisk and Salutatorian Joseph Ditz

Archbishop Walsh Academy is pleased to announce the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the graduating Class of 2019. The Valedictorian is Alexus Fisk, and the Salutatorian is Joseph Ditz. Both graduates will be recognized during commencement ceremonies scheduled for 6 p.m. on June 7th at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on the campus of St. Bonaventure University.

Valedictorian Alexus Fisk is graduating as a diploma candidate in the International Baccalaureate Degree Programme She has also completed requirements for an Advanced Regents Diploma through the New York State Regents program.  Alexus is also a member of the National Honor Society and president of the Archbishop Walsh Chapter. Her mother is Andrea Oakley of Olean.

Alexus has achieved special recognition receiving the County Youth Citizenship Award and is a member of the Big 30 Academic Team.  She was also recognized as an Outstanding National Honor Society Member by her NHS peers at the Cattaraugus County National Honor Society Banquet.  In addition, Alexus has been a member of the International Club.  Her efforts have helped members raise funds to afford journeys to Peru, France and Italy in which she has participated for cultural enrichment. She has also contributed to the Walsh school community as a member of the varsity volleyball team and has completed numerous community service hours both inside and outside of school, including 162 hours during her senior year.

Alexus’s unweighted GPA is 95.208, and her weighted GPA is 97.825. She plans to attend Allegheny College in the fall and pursue a career in the field of psychology.

 

Salutatorian Joseph Ditz is graduating as a diploma candidate in the International Baccalaureate Degree Programme.  He has also completed requirements for an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors through the New York State Regents program. Joe is a member of the Archbishop Walsh National Honor Society and he earned an Academic Excellence Award at the Cattaraugus County National Honor Society Banquet.  His parents are Bill and Kimberly Ditz of Lewis Run Pennsylvania.

As a junior, Joe was awarded the RIT Computing Medal from the Rochester Institute of Technology and the Xerox Award for Innovation from the University of Rochester.   Joe has maintained an excellent academic record throughout high school, consistently achieving honor roll status each quarter and receiving recognition as an IB Learner of the Month. Joe’s academic dedication is matched by his willingness to help various groups through his service to the school community.  Joe can often be found volunteering his time assisting with school fundraising events and supporting the school’s athletic teams in a variety of ways.

Joe’s unweighted GPA is 91.950, with a weighted GPA of 94.444, and plans to attend Dayton University majoring in electrical engineering.

Archbishop Walsh congratulates both Alexus and Joe on their outstanding academic achievements.
