At Walsh, your student prepared for the future with a rigorous and challenging academic environment while nurturing their physical, social, and emotionally needs.
The Walsh Family core curriculum is aligned to meet and exceed New York State standards, assuring a premier academic experience for your student. The ELA and Math curricula have been updated to reflect the NYS Common Core Learning Standards. Each grade level’s content, essential questions, student skills, resources and types of assessments used to evaluate the students’ skills are clearly articulated in curriculum maps.
The Walsh Family offers a variety of graduation tracks that accommodate the student’s capabilities and demands for the future! Students can opt to acquire a New York State Regents diploma, get International Baccalaureate certification, or receive the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Our guidance team is always here to help get your student on the right track!
Following the IB Diploma track, students will follow the DP core and six subject groups.
Made up of the three required components, the DP core aims to broaden students’ educational experience and challenge them to apply their knowledge and skills.
The three core elements are:
- Theory of knowledge, in which students reflect on the nature of knowledge and on how we know what we claim to know.
- The extended essay, which is an independent, self-directed piece of research, finishing with a 4,000-word paper.
- Creativity, activity, service, in which students complete a project related to those three concepts.
