Archbishop Walsh Academy is pleased to announce that Buffalo Business First has announced the high school rankings of 135 public and private middle schools in the eight counties of Western New York, based on four years of test scores compiled by the New York State Education Department. Archbishop Walsh Academy was overall ranked #83. 

Walsh continues to show improvement and a renewed commitment to achieving academic excellence on behalf of the students. This dedication is demonstrated via the improvement in Business First rankings over the past three years: #94 (2010), #83 (2011) and #83 (2012). 

Within the analysis provided by Business First, subject ranks are also provided across four areas of study. Walsh ranked #72 in English/foreign languages, #50 in math, #113 in science and #94 in social studies. The rankings are determined via the following formula: "Twenty percent of each school's annual score is determined by the percentage of all graduates who received Regents diplomas, with extra emphasis on those who earned diplomas with advanced designations. The other 80 percent is based on its students' scores on Regents exams in 13 subjects: English, French, Italian, Spanish, integrated algebra, geometry, algebra 2-trigonometry, earth science, living environment, chemistry, physics, global history and U.S. history." [Buffalo Business First] These scores are compiled utilizing four years of data. 

Walsh was recently designated as an International Baccalaureate World School, authorized to offer the IB Diploma Program and one of only 2% of the high schools in the United States certified to offer this program. The IB Diploma Program is an internationally acclaimed and structurally rigorous academic program with approximately 2,200 schools in the world offering an IB curriculum. 

This new academic program, along with the addition of numerous 'classrooms of the future' in the school, demonstrate the school's commitment to academic excellence and overall goal of preparing Walsh students for future job markets.
