High School Curriculum

Archbishop Walsh Academy provides an academically rigorous program that highlights a classical liberal arts education. Freshmen and sophomores are instructed at a high level in order to prepare them for the demanding IB Diploma Programme offered to juniors and seniors. While all juniors and seniors will take IB courses, not all students will graduate with an IB Diploma. Those students that meet all IB Diploma requirements will receive the IB Diploma, while some may earn IB Certificates, and others will be on course to receive a New York State Regents Diploma. The curriculum currently offers the following:

Religion:

Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

English:

Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

IB English HL

Writing & Composition

Computers:

Classroom of the Future - Global Learning Lab that allows students to learn across subjects utilizing technology

Second Languages:

Spanish 1, 2, 3 

IB Spanish SL

Physical Education:

Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

Health:

1/2 credit

History:

Global Studies 1 & 2, U.S. History, Economics & Government

IB History of the Americas HL

Math:

Algebra, Geometry, Personal Finance, Algebra 2 / Trigonometry, Pre-calculus

IB Math Studies

Science:

Biology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics, Advanced Biology

IB Biology HL

IB Chemistry SL (available for 2012-2013 school year)

The Arts:

Studio Art, Ceramics, Mixed Media Art, Music Theory, Chorus, Drama

IB Visual Arts SL or HL

Electives:

Public Speaking, Yearbook
